2016 Department Convention June 24th - 26th in Vernal Utah.

It will be hosted by Post 11 and District 9.

 

Convention will be held at:

Post 72 wants to express it appreciation to the Pastors and Congergations of the Orem Community Church for allopwing us to meet there on the 3rd. Wednesday of each mionth.  However, we would like to find a more permenant situation that we can call home.  If anyone knows of some vacant floor space in a store front or building that is vacant and the owner would be open to donating the use to a non-profit Veterans organization we would love to use it . Contact thye Post Commander.

2012 Membership

As a Post we are doing well in our membership efforts.  We are still looking for younger men and women to cary on the fine tradition we have established here in the Orem Community. We are encouraging Veit Nam and Gulf  War Era veterans to come on board and help us provide the much need efforts in our Americanism Programs.  There is a place for the whole family with the Womens' Auxiliary and Juniors as well as in the Son's of the Legion.

Currently the Post has 80 members. Check our calendar for up coming events and meetings.

2012 Boys State

 Post 72 is currently accepting applications for Boys' State. Dead line is April 15th 2012. This program is for young men currently in their Jr. Year of high School and who will be going on to their Sr, Year. The program offers a great opportunity to learn about the workings of the political process. Those who complete the week long program will earn three (3) college semester hours of Political Science and have a chance at a number of available scholarships.  197 boys in the class of 2011 took home $866,440 do;;ars in various scholarships.

2011 High School Oratorical Competition

If you didn't take time to attend the Department level competition you missed a great afternoon. Eight of the nine districts had an entry (5 boys & 3 girls). they came from Ogden to St. George nand were all great.


I can tell you that if they are the measure of our young men and women the country is in good hands.


Preston Miller, who represented Post 72 and District Four at the Department level was awarded the 3rd place medal.  Preston is a Sophomore this year will be able to compete again next year. He did an excellent job. We should be Proude of him.

Girls' State

Sophie Siebach was elected to be one of our two State Senators for Utah at Girls' Nation.  She is a student at Orem High School.


Great job Sophie. Post and Unit 72 are proud of you.


If you want to meet Sophie Siebach and the other Girls' & Boy's Staters. plan on being at our September Post meeting.

The following Boys Staters received Scholarships from Weber state University:

E. Huston Bodily TTimpanogos high School

Robert Reay  Utah County Academy of Science


Great Job Guys. We are proud of you.


100 of the attendess were awarded scholarships from the University.

Alex Farnsworth from Duchesne High School also received one of the Samsung, Inc. scholoarship.

Visitors to our April Meeting

We apprieciated the unexpected visit of our good friends the Department 1st Vice Commander and our Past District and Department Commander Gary Schwartz who came to be part of the swearing in of the 2010-2011 Post Officers. The Swearing in ceremoney was conducted by the Departmrent Commander Roger Archibald. He was accompanied by his Adjutant Carmello.
